Type Clouds.

This is a never ending project from Kalle Magnusson (studio 1982). It's made with love for the types, and the artists who created them. The idea came up in the spring of 2007. But was first presented in March 2008.

Vision

Types has always inspired me. Types and symmetry. Although I am far from capable to have order and discipline in my real life; when it comes to typography, graphical design, architecture and other fields of likeness (hey; why don't just call it art), I have always loved and searched for symmetry and order. I think this is why I did this project. I wanted to see if there could be some similarities to what i want to create with the fonts and how they were originally created. Types and Symmetry always inspired me. As well as simplicity and elegance.

On selection

So why these, why not ______ (insert your favorite font name here)? Ok, I'll try to explain... These fonts are particular not my favorite fonts. In many ways they are, but in many ways they are not. The common criteria among them is of course that they in one way have a meaning for me, more or less. At this moment.

Index

The Type Clouds project is based on clouds from 23 typefaces, some with more than one cut. Hope you like them and that they fascinates you as much as they fascinates me.

What is a Type Cloud?

How It is made? The idea is simple. A Type Cloud is built by the characters in a typeface. One Type Cloud contains letters from A-Z in the same font. They are placed over each other and centered (metric). Shapes appears. Symmetry appears. Symmetry disappears. Shapes disappears. Type Clouds appears.

Presentation

My hopes are that the Type Clouds will be shown on paper on a wall sometime very soon. Maybe in a gallery, on a poster, or just on the wall next to my desk or aquarium. I'll let you know if it happens.
